Description
These homemade chocolate covered almonds are a simple yet irresistible treat! Crunchy roasted almonds coated in smooth, rich chocolate make the perfect snack or homemade gift. You only need a few ingredients and less than 30 minutes!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups raw almonds
- 8 oz (1 ½ cups) high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (or butter for extra richness)
- ½ tsp sea salt (optional, for topping)
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Roast the Almonds: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread almonds on a baking sheet and roast for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Let them cool.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chopped chocolate and coconut oil. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler.
- Coat the Almonds: Drop a handful of almonds into the melted chocolate. Stir to coat evenly. Use a fork to lift them out, tapping off excess chocolate.
- Set & Cool: Place the coated almonds on parchment paper. Sprinkle with sea salt or cocoa powder if desired. Let them set at room temperature for 30 minutes, or chill in the fridge for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
- Store & Enjoy: Once set, transfer them to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
- Use milk or white chocolate for different flavors.
- For extra crunch, double dip the almonds in chocolate after the first layer sets.
- Add a sprinkle of espresso powder or cinnamon for unique flavors.
